Does A Notch Trowel Cut The Waterproofing Membrane

In this video, I demonstrate that a notch trowel does not cut the waterproofing membrane. I simply run the notched trowel over the surface as I normally would. Waterproof membranes, especially the water-based type used in many construction projects, are designed specifically to be notched and tiled over. They are applied at approximately 1 millimeter thick, as recommended by the manufacturer's directions.
