How to plan a bathroom tile layout for clean wall and floor alignment.

Planning a bathroom tile layout properly is one of the most important parts of any tiling job. A lot of people only see the finished tiles once they're laid. But they don't always see the time that goes into the set-out. In this video, I walk through exactly how I set out the floor and wall tiles in this bathroom, and why that alignment matters. For this particular set out, it took me close to three hours, just to get it right, because I wanted the wall tiles to land exactly on the edge of the floor tile at the crossover. That small detail is what makes the finished job look clean, instead of looking like it was just, cut to fit. One of the challenges here was that the left wall wasn't square. So I had to allow for that, and still bring everything into balance. That's the kind of detail you don't always notice, but it makes a big difference once it's all done. When you set out bathroom floor tiles and wall tiles, it's not just start in one corner and go. You've got to look at the key sightlines, the doorways, the shower area, and how everything ties in together. You want symmetrical cuts where possible, so it feels balanced when you walk in. That's why I always take the time to plan it out, rather than rushing ahead. It can be tempting to just start laying tiles, but those extra hours figuring out the set out, that's what gives the job that sharp, clean look. So if you're tiling your own bathroom, or if you're a tiler wanting to refine your process, don't skip the set out. Plan it. Dry lay if you need to, and think about where every line is going to finish. That's how you avoid awkward cuts, and that is how you get a professional result. The finished result at the end of this video, shows why the planning matters. That's what sets a job apart.
