In this video, I demonstrate how to place an aluminium angle inside a recessed box to achieve a more seamless look. The standard dimensions for a niche these days are about 300 millimeters in height, 600 millimeters in width, and around 90 millimeters in depth. These measurements provide a balanced storage space while keeping a sleek, minimalist design. It is crucial that the entire niche is fully waterproofed, especially if it is inside a shower, so that no water travels behind the wall. I also show how I waterproof the wall tile that reaches the top of the niche, ensuring that water cannot penetrate.

After framing the niche, I back it with cement board, which provides a stable, water-resistant surface. Once the framing is complete, I apply a flexible, high-quality waterproofing membrane, ensuring it covers all inside surfaces thoroughly. Once the membrane is dry, I begin tiling, ensuring full adhesive coverage on the inside, so no water can seep in. After grouting, I apply a final sealant, especially at all edges, ensuring a continuous waterproof barrier. By following these steps, the niche stays dry, functional, and perfectly integrated into the overall bathroom design.
